The man had attended the hospital seeking help following a suicide attempt
The wife of a man who attended a Northern Ireland hospital following a suicide attempt has said she was "disgusted" by the treatment he received claiming he was "smirked at" and "turned away" despite begging for help.
She said that her husband had been taken to A&E by police officers after attempting to take his own life and after a few hours there he was seen by medical staff who spoke to him in a "busy corridor" with other patients around. She said: "Thankfully we managed to get my partner home with the help of the police and looked after him all night, but I am still outraged by the lack of care and concern he received at the hospital and dread to think of others in his position crying out for help being treated the same way."
