Independents are down one, while Labour has gained two and the Greens have gained three.And to put it into context, the Tories had 37 seats in 2015., now holding just five places at the council table.Meanwhile, Labour has lost two seats, and the Liberal Democrats have gained one.The local Conservative Party in Medway has seemingly conceded defeat live on air in a somewhat amusing Sky News interview with Jon Craig.
A win in Medway would be a"big deal for Labour" and could be followed by Swindon if the party's"best case scenario" came to fruition, said Dr Hannah Bunting. As we reported a little earlier, the local Labour leader in Meadway said the party has had a"great night" so far, in an area they have not won since its inception in 1998.The party has lost control of Windsor and Maidenhead - Theresa May's constituency - after the Liberal Democrats made gains in the royal borough.
