Jesse Marsch believes Dominik Szoboszlai was always destined for greatness with his early-season Liverpool performances further evidence
Jesse Marsch has branded Dominik Szoboszlai "the modern-day David Beckham" as Liverpool's £60m summer signing has quickly got to grips with the Premier League.
Remembering the returning from the stoppage caused by Covid-19 in 2020, he said: "We had a team meeting and I stood Szobo in front of everyone and said, 'This is now your time. You are ready to lead this team'. "He has known for years this was his path. This is the way it is supposed to go. He is the hope and pride of his nation, seen as ‘the next Puskas’."
Finally addressing his multi-million transfer to Merseyside, Marsch claimed there were no surprise in seeing the player he helped hone finds himself in the position he is in today, going as far to suggest the release clause Jorg Schmadtke and Jurgen Klopp activated last month will prove to be a "steal."
