Accused killers, a cruel pet owner and a disgraced former cop are among those to have been through the courts this week
During a short week following the August Bank Holiday, Lancashire's courts have been busy keeping the wheels of justice turning.
Man in court charged with murder of toddler A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a toddler in Blackpool. Daniel Hardcastle, 30, spoke only to confirm his identity and that he understood the proceedings during the hearing at Blackpool Magistrates' Court. Michael Lamb, 74, of Levens Drive in Carlisle was arrested following the incident, remanded and admitted the charge of sexual assault. He was sentenced at Carlisle Crown Court Thursday to 40 months in prison and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Jess Gazey, 32, was furious when he knocked on Adam Gurjee's door on July 22 last year to confront him about his driving. He said Sycamore Drive in Wesham, where they both lived, was a 20mph road and Mr Gurjee put his children, and others who were playing out in the street, at risk.
