All the Lancashire roadworks causing disruption during the final week of April
As we come out of the Easter and bank holidays and working weeks return to normal, you might be wondering if the traffic levels will return to normal too.
This includes drainage and geotechnical works that will continue for a few more months near Rawtenstall, as well as a safety barrier replacement that has been ongoing on the M65. Drivers are being urged to plan ahead if they plan on travelling via any of these routes. This is especially as some routes have planned overnight closures, meaning you might have to find an alternative way to get to your destination if you plan on travelling during the hours the roads are shut.
Work started on the road on Friday 17 February and will continue until mid-July 2023. During this time, there will be overnight closures of the A56 and M66 southbound carriageway, between the A56/A680/B6527 junction and M66 junction 1 near Summerseat. The diversions will use the B6527 Market Street / Blackburn Road / Manchester Road and the A56 Manchester Road. To reduce disruption, the M66/A56 will only be closed throughout the night in the southbound direction.Essential repair work on the eastbound exit slip road is to be undertaken at junction 10 of the M65, which connects road users to Burnley Barracks Interchange and the A671.
