Group manager and firefighter recruitment lead, Caroline Harrison, said: “We’re excited to recruit for wholetime firefighters this August. There’s no career quite like that of a firefighter – and while you may think “I couldn’t do that’’, you’ll be surprised at just how many transferrable skills you could bring to the role.
“All of our firefighters bring something different to the table and this emphasises why we encourage applications from a wide range of people from different backgrounds and experiences, so we can better represent the communities we serve”. “We are looking for people who can use their initiative and problem solve, are compassionate, individuals who can keep calm under pressure, enjoy working as part of a team, effective communicators, and most of all, those who genuinely want to make a difference to their communities, and be there in their time of need.”
The closing date is 12noon on Wednesday 16 August – although the fire service has warned it may close sooner if there’s a large number of applications. Applications is via the
