The Met Office weather forecast for the week ahead shows temperatures rising and sunnier conditions
It comes as new official figures from the Met Office showed the county had its wettest July on record. More than twice the usual amount of July rainfall fell in Lancashire as well as Greater Manchester and Merseyside.
This week's forecast shows the cool and wet start to August may finally be set to change, with warmer temperatures and more sunshine on the horizon. Met Office forecasters predict mercury levels could reach as high as 25C on Thursday and 28C in parts of southern England - this would make it the hottest day since July 9.
Temperatures will continue to creep up on Wednesday with highs of 20C and more sunshine and clouds and little chance of rain. On Thursday , temperatures will soar to around 25C with sunny conditions for most of the day.
