Julen Lopetegui has rejected the chance of becoming the next Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach.
1h agoThe 56-year-old former Spain manager held talks with Wolves over the current vacancy at Molineux but he has now decided to rule himself out of the reckoning. Lopetegui emerged as a strong contender to succeed Bruno Lage after leaving his role at Sevilla last week.
He was informed before last week’s 4-1 Champions League defeat by Borussia Dortmund that his three-year spell in Seville was being brought to an end, with the club confirming their decision shortly after the game. That cleared the way for Wolves to hold formal talks with Lopetegui and his agent Jorge Mendes, who has considerable influence at Molineux, but talks have now broken down.
