This could come in handy
A Nottingham bar owner, who was always being asked for recommendations for the best spots in town, has come up with a solution that will not only benefit the public but help local businesses thrive. An app called We Are Floot has been devised by Neil Dollochin, who runs Tilt, featuring 200 of Nottingham's unique and quirky cafes, bars and restaurants.
The venues aren't just in the city centre. Bistro 66 in Beeston, Debbie Bryan in Ruddington, and The Refinery in West Bridgford are amongst some of those in the suburbs. The app details the location, opening hours, menus, contact information and a gallery of food and drink photos to whet the appetite. Quick search options allow users to search for date nights, live music, coffee, lunch, cocktails and dinner.
"There's a real wealth of creative independents in Nottingham but it's a difficult time right now so what we're trying to achieve is there are amazing independents, you're the customers who love going out, use the app to find these independents. I genuinely believe we can do some good. The theory is great, we just need people behind it."
"I'm not anti-chain at all, I genuinely believe a city centre needs chains but it also needs independents. But the fact is independents don't have investors or a marketing team or access to loads of data where you can analyse things. It's really hard for a standalone business. My dream is that whenever anyone goes into town they reach for Floot."
