Hospital trust 'welcomes' latest report on maternity services despite drop in safety rating

Wigan’s maternity services have welcomed praise from inspectors after maintaining a rating of ‘Good’ from the Care Quality Commission.

Despite this, the service was praised for their care, protecting people from abuse, controlling infection risk as well as managing clinical waste well. The maternity service was also applauded for their engagement with women in the community and making staff feel ‘respected, supported and valued’. “We would like to reassure our patients and the public that the service was already on track with year five of the training programme set by the National Maternity Incentive Scheme, which will see 90 per cent of our staff trained by February 2024.”
