The big Switch-On moment will be followed by a specially-commissioned Nickelodeon sound and light show on The Blackpool Tower that will be synchronised with LED wristbands
Those attending tonight's Illuminations switch-on event can get their hands on a free LED wristband so they can take part in the big moment.
Some will also be given out along the parade route but numbers are limited so visitors are being urged to get theirs as soon as possible to ensure they can take part in the parade. The illuminations will light up each night for four months, sparked by a huge live event on the seafront and amazing fireworks display. Tonight's free switch-on event is expected to attract thousands to the seaside resort.
Family entertainment is the focus for this year's switch on extravaganza which will culminate in a stunning fireworks display. It will all be centred around Blackpool Tower and Tower festival Headland, with the event returning outdoors for the first time in four years.
