Bassetlaw District Council said it was considering staffing plans including a four-day working week
On the face of it, it is incredibly appealing. Working four days and then enjoying three off every week is, without doubt, something most of us would welcome.The authority covering areas of Nottinghamshire including Worksop and Retford, previously said it was "premature" to suggest it was conducting any kind of trial of a four-day working week.
But the plans in Bassetlaw were met with strong opposition from the Taxpayers' Alliance. Benjamin Elks, operations manager of the TaxPayers’ Alliance, said: "Residents have seen the four-day week in operation elsewhere, and they don't want it to spread to their local council. "In South Cambridgeshire, the four-day week has led to worse services for local taxpayers. Bassetlaw council should rule out this wacky experiment."Let us know in our poll below.
