Flood warning issued for Nelson with residents told to 'act now'
A flood warning has been issued for parts of the town including properties in Riverside Business Park, Pendle Industrial Estate, Southfield Street, Brook Street, Sagar Street, Holme Street, Leeds Road, Pendle Community Hospital, Riverside Business Centre and Nelson and Colne College.
With further rain forecast for this afternoon, and the level of Walverden Water set to continue rising, people are advised to avoid using low-level footpaths and any bridges near watercourses. Walverden Water runs north-west through Nelson and goes under the M65 before it eventually flows into Pendle Water. The flood warning was issued at 1.30pm today.
