It's well loved
Shoppers in Beeston say they hope a café gets permission to expand and welcome it to the high street. The DoughMother, based at 109 Central Avenue in Beeston, sells cakes, freshly-baked ,tea and coffee.
The application for the new café is pending consideration. People in Beeston shared their thoughts on a bakery coming to the High Road.Simon Giles has visited The DoughMother before. The 49-year-old, who has lived in Beeston all his life, said: “It’s a wonderful, small café. Different, it’s quite old-fashioned and vintage but lovely. I usually get a coffee and a cake and then bread to take away if I pass that way.
The DoughMother is a Parisian cafe in the middle of a Beeston housing estate. Owner Houlia Mola said: “The business is doing okay, it’s very loved. We already have a team but depending on opening hours there'll be maybe six or seven new jobs for the new café. The DoughMother’s best sellers change all the time but Houlia said that the spinach pies and freshly-baked bread sell well. Stuart Cooke, 66, of Trowell, who visits Beeston from time to time, said: “I haven’t got a problem with a new bakery, I’d rather that than an empty shop. We need businesses or it’ll be a ghost town.Local resident Hannah Shear, 36 who works as a waitress, said she supports a new bakery coming to the town.
