Shuffleboard bar Electric Shuffle is due to open in the old Evans Cycles shop in Deansgate

Pool, darts and maybe a hand of cards. In years gone by that was pretty much your choice of pub games.

Nowadays though things have changed dramatically. From axe-throwing, to cricket nets, there's not much you can't do in Manchester while supping a pint. And now Red Engine, the firm behind trendy darts bar Flight Club, are planning to bring their latest venture to town - shuffleboarding. Kind of a combination of curling and crown green bowls, shuffleboarding sees players take it in turns to slide weighted pucks along a narrow table lightly dusted with sand in order to score points. The bar, called Electric Shuffle, is due to open in the old Evans Cycles shop on Deansgate.

Licensing hours are 11am to midnight Sunday to Thursday with later opening until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays. It will be the third Electric Shuffle bar in the UK, following venues in Leeds and London, with other branches in Dallas and Austin in Texas, and another planned for New York next year . Red Engine CEO and co-founder Steve Moore said plans for the Manchester branch were still in the 'very early stages' but it was hoped to open by next year. He added: "We've absolutely loved being a part of the Manchester hospitality scene since we opened the doors to Flight Club in 2018 and are really excited at the prospect of bringing our sister brand Electric Shuffle to Deansgate.
