Fees for charging electric vehicles in East Renfrewshire are set to be rolled out from October.
Users will pay a rate for the electricity consumed, which is expected to be set at 40p per kWh for standard charging units and 70p per kWh for rapid units.cabinet members will decide on the cost for using publicly available chargers in the area at a meeting on Thursday .
An initial plan to introduce an overstay charge on standard units has been dropped. Officials reported: “Standard charging units are typically slower charging, and take approximately three to four hours to fully charge an EV. Those eligible for the discount will need their vehicle and ChargePlace Scotland card registered to an East Renfrewshire address and the vehicle must be for personal use only.
