Southport Pleasureland fire sees rescue teams five spend hours tackling blaze
Crews arrived at Southport Pleasureland yesterday afternoon after a blaze broke out within the grounds. They used an onsite staff digger to remove the timber so they could access and extinguish the fire.
The Fire and Rescue Service remained at the scene throughout the afternoon before leaving at 7.14pm. No buildings were damaged in the incident.A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire & Rescue told the ECHO: "Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service was called to Southport Pleasureland on Monday, October 17. Crews were called shortly before 2pm.
"Three fire engines were sent to the scene. On arrival, crews found a large quantity of timber and waste involved in the fire out in the open. No buildings were affected by the fire. "Firefighters worked with onsite staff to use a digger to remove layers of the affected timber so that crews could access and extinguish the deep-seated fire. Firefighting continued throughout the afternoon with the final fire crew leaving the scene at 7.14pm."
