The winners will be announced in December
The finalists shortlisted for the Times Higher Education Awards 2023 have been announced. Dubbed the ‘Oscars of higher education’, the awards aim to shine the spotlight on the talent, commitment and innovation of individuals and teams across all aspects of university life - not just the learning part.
Six universities are battling out for the prestigious title of ‘THE University of the Year’. This year the finalists include Anglia Ruskin University, University of East London, University of Exeter, Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, University of South Wales, and the University of York. Last year, the University of the Year accolade was bestowed to Northumbria University, who were noted to have dealt with “extraordinary challenges”. The judges said of the university: “Northumbria is an example of a university that set a long-term strategy and pursued it with great clarity, transforming the institution’s research profile but without leaving behind its hugely valuable and distinctive attributes as a modern university.
