Masked thugs stole an electric bike from a teenager in a terrifying knifepoint robbery in Preston city centre.
The thugs were dressed all in black and wearing balacalavas as they approached their 17-year-old victim from behind on Tuesday night. One of the group threatened the boy with a knife on Tithebarn Street before taking the Carrera bike before fleeing in the direction of Preston Market. Hours later, at 2.55am, another robbery occurred in the city centre as an 18-year-old man was hit on the back of the head by someone wearing a balaclava. The victim was on Church Street when he had his chain and watch stolen by a robber who was accompanied by others who were on bikes and had their faces covered.Lancashire Constabulary said that neither victim was seriously injured and that no arrests have so far been made as it launched a public appeal for help.
DI Simon Gray, of Preston CID, said: “These are two appalling attacks committed against two young victims. Although they were not seriously injured, they have been left understandably shaken. I would ask witnesses or anyone who has CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage capturing either incident or people wearing face coverings in the area around those times to contact the police as soon as possible.
Anyone with information or footage is asked to mail [email protected] or call 101, quoting log 1481 of August 29, 2023
