The group of talented ballet dancers, all over the age of 55, were chosen to showcase their work globally.
A group of Dumbarton dancers hit the big-time after performing at London’s iconic Royal Academy of Dance.
The Silver Swans launched in Dumbarton in 2019, and has proved a big hit with locals – despite the Covid-19 pandemic seeing classes suspended for almost three years.Ashley told the Lennox: “It was so exciting to be selected to take part.“All the members were buzzing and couldn’t wait. It’s a first for the majority of the members to be performing, let alone on such a stage.“Everyone was totally hyper when they found out. It came as a shock.
“Friends of mine had retired ahead of me and had started going along. I’ve only been involved for about six months when this opportunity arose.Instructor Ashley, who is from Helensburgh and trained at the elite Elmhurst Ballet School in association with Birmingham Royal Ballet as a professional before travelling the world performing, said it was an amazing feeling to see others discovering a love of the art.
“The majority of our attendees have never danced in their life before. They come to us as total beginners.
