Glasgow’s long-running equal pay issues are expected to be resolved by March 2025 when a new pay structure should be active.
Agreements have been reached to settle historic pay claims but a fresh pay and grading system is still required.
“I would hope midway through 24/25 rather than the end of 24/25. There always has to be some contingency built in.” An agreement, worth over £200m, for other claims, including after the cut off, was reached in November last year and offers were made to claimants in June. The funding strategy involved the further sale and leaseback of six properties, including the city chambers, Kelvingrove Museum and the Gallery of Modern Art.
Ms Galletly said: “There is a real drive to conclude the work on all sides as soon as possible, but there is a recognition that it is a huge task and it’s very complicated. Pay arrangements for council staff will not change in October but there will be “backdating of pay” to October 15, 2023 “where appropriate” once the structure is in place.of determining the final pay and grading is the end point and the backdating will cover any additional gap period.”
