A five-day-old baby's death at Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham, has prompted an inquest after"'concerns were raised". and died on March 9, 2023.
The details emerged at an inquest-opening into his death at the Council House, Market Square, Nottingham, on Thursday . Although only brief facts were given at the outline to the inquest inquiry, Gordon Clow, assistant coroner for Nottinghamshire, recorded Arlo's date of birth and death and his place of death as the QMC, in Derby Road.
He was identified by his mother, the inquest heard, who was present with her son at the hospital. The provisional cause of death was Hypoxic-ischaemic brain injury . Was recorded as "acute chorioamnionitis with fetal infamatory response". Chorioamnionitis is an infection of the amniotic fluid and tissue that surround a fetus during pregnancy.
Mr Clow said concerns had been raised about the treatment and so that has to be explored at an inquest before the coroner can be satisfied whether or not it was a natural death. The concluding inquest is on a date to be arranged.
