Bentley-Shane Shaw was just under two months old when he died

A baby died at Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre, and the provisional cause of death is currently "unascertained". at the Derby Road facility on March 17 this year.

Minimum details were heard about Bentley-Shane as assistant coroner for Nottinghamshire, Gordon Clow, formerly opened and adjourned an inquest into his death. The short hearing, attended by family members, including his grandmother, recorded his date of birth as January 24, 2023, and date of death as March 17.

Bentley-Shane was identified to one of Mr Clow's officers by his grandmother. Subsequently a post-mortem examination was done, but the provisional cause of death remains unascertained, Mr Clow told the hearing on Thursday . After opening the inquest, he adjourned for further inquiries to be made and a date to be fixed for a full inquest, where more details will heard about the death and the circumstances surrounding them.

A conclusion is then made and the cause of death is recorded. Mr Clow ended the hearing at the Council House, Market Square, by expressing his condolences to the family.
