Great work by police!
A suspect stopped in Miles Platting during a police crackdown on knife crime was found to be carrying several different kinds of drugs, officers said last night .
Newton Heath, Clayton and Openshaw Police reported on their Twitter account that a "large quantity" of Class A, Class B and Class C drugs were seized. The suspect was arrested. The search was carried out under Operation Sceptre, a national initiative to tackle knife crime, they said. Launching the operation earlier this month, Greater Manchester Police said: "Across Greater Manchester, officers will be undertaking a range of operational activity to target offenders as well as highlighting the risks and consequences of carrying a knife.
The Greater Manchester force previously said of the knife crime crackdown: "Operation Sceptre links closely with GMP’s longer-term initiatives aimed at reducing knife crime and serious youth violence – such as operations Sycamore, Concept and the Forever Amnesty. These initiatives have seen over 10,000 weapons seized across Greater Manchester since 2019."
