Caolan Loughran is the first fighter from Tyrone to reach the Ultimate Fighting Championship
Caolan Loughran cuts a relaxed figure ahead of his Ultimate Fighting Championship debut on Saturday night.
"I take great pride in being the first Tyrone man in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. We are a hard people, Tyrone people," he smiles. "Even as an amateur on Ireland, every gym here hated me because I kept telling people I was going to the UFC. I never lost one fight in Ireland ever as an amateur. I won every fight and won titles."I have no doubt I could beat Sean O'Malley . I firmly believe that. He is perfect for me.
While it is one thing making it to the Ultimate Fighting Championship, it is another thing staying there and becoming a champion."It has been a long road to get here. John Kavanagh once said it takes 10 years to become an overnight success in this sport, and it's true," he says."The whole fame thing doesn't suit me, but I might have to get used to it. But I love inspiring young kids."If one lad in Tyrone wants to do it after watching me, that's my job done.
