Trade union members are calling for the principal of UHI Perth to resign as the shadow of planned staff redundancies continues to loom.
The college has projected the deficit as a result of impending cost of living increases, both for utilities and for pay awards, and the removal of funding by the Scottish Government. A joint union statement read: “Almost four months later, we remain in the dark about facts and figures and the rationale for those job cuts, with an untold number more to follow.
“Requests for clear, accurate and detailed information have been met with a smoke and mirrors approach to accounting for public funds. “Despite our members facing the worst cost of living crisis in recent memory, they have had no pay increase, and have overwhelmingly voted to take industrial action to win a cost of living pay rise.
The trade unions also urged the Scottish Government to pay more attention to the further education sector.
