Residents in a Perthshire village presented a petition calling for their 'unsightly' village green to be restored to its 'former glory'
Perth and Kinross Council will continue its "no mow" approach to some grassland areas despite residents complaining it was "unsightly" and encouraged fly-tipping.
However the majority of Carsie villagers signed a petition which said the policy had been forced upon them. Residents attended Wednesday's meeting joined by two local Conservative councillors Caroline Shiers and Bob Brawn. "I can only apologise if the community don't feel they have been engaged with but that is the commitment."
After the meeting SNP councillor Richard Watters - who tabled the motion - said: "One of the key focuses of this committee is managing the council’s commitment to supporting biodiversity across the Perth and Kinross area. "This is a long-term strategy for improving biodiversity across the area and we absolutely appreciate that we cannot and will not please everyone; however, I truly hope that discussions such as these can continue and together we will find the right balance for everyone."
