Witnesses reported not being able to access Brook Street of Cook Street
Armed police were heard shouting "open the door" as they pointed guns at a block of flats in Prescot tonight.
Merseyside Police were called to Brook Street in Prescot at 7.40pm on Wednesday, August 23, following reports of a despute between neighbours. It was reported to police that one neighbour had threatened the other with a firearm. A number of units, including armed police, were called to the scene following the 999 call.
Witnesses reported not being able to access Brook Street or Cook Street after armed police swarmed the roads. One woman saw police pointing guns at one of the entrances to the flats at the bottom of Brook Street while shouting "armed police, open the door."She said: "Police wouldn't allow anyone close. They where at the flat door on Cook Street holding guns towards the door and shouting 'armed police open the door'.
Another woman said: "I couldn't park on the street so I went around the corner. I asked police if I could go home and they told me I couldn't because armed police had been deployed." Merseyside Police confirmed after being called to the scene the report was refuted and the incident would not be investigated any further.
