Those eligible for the Winter Fuel Payment in 2023/24 will also get a Pensioner cost of living payment of between £150 and £300
Millions of people in the UK could get up to £600 from the Department for Work and Pensions to help with energy bills and the cost of living this winter.
This means eligible households could receive between £250 and £600 to help manage the higher costs during the colder winter months. Most people will receive the payment automatically and if you received it last year then you won't need to apply again. The DWP confirmed that around 11.6 million Winter Fuel Payments and Pensioner cost of living payments totalling £4.6 billion were made to pensioners across the UK last winter.
The money you get is tax-free and will not affect any other benefits you claim. If you're eligible, you’ll normally get a letter in October or November saying how much you’ll get with most people receiving the money in November or December, the Mirror reports.
