People are being urged to know the signs and prevent future health problems
Thousands of people in Liverpool suffer with a common condition that they do not even realise they have.
It is thought that around 31,000 in Liverpool do not know they have high blood pressure and are potentially facing future health problems. People from the most deprived areas are also 30% more likely to have high blood pressure. As part of the Cheshire and Merseyside Health and Care Partnership, Liverpool City Council is one of the organisations helping to promote a new campaign called ‘Know Your Numbers!’ to help raise awareness throughout September.
"We have blood pressure checks available in more places than ever, and I would strongly encourage people to take advantage of the opportunity to know your numbers." It's recommended that all adults over 40 should have their blood pressure tested at least every five years, so any potential problems can be detected early. If you are diagnosed with high blood pressure, it’s important to have your blood pressure tested more regularly – ideally once a year.
