The Women Against State Pension Inequality campaign has announced that since they started the fight for justice after changes to State Pension ages, more than 250,000 women have died.
The stark milestone of a quarter of a million women’s deaths since the campaign’s formation means approximately 15% of all those affected by the DWP’s failings have since died. Meanwhile, analysis of ONS data – commissioned by WASPI – shows one 1950s-born woman dies every 13 minutes – more than 100 every day as the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman drags his heels over publishing his recommendations for redress.
“I lost her at 59 to cancer and was diagnosed myself with lung cancer at 62. I have no quality of life and the financial pressures I face are immense. Some days it’s extremely hard to see anything but a miserable end to a lifetime of hard work as the fight for justice for so many women continues.
