Zara McDermott says making BBC Three film Disordered Eating has been a learning journey
Zara McDermott admitted she "didn't want to be part of the problem" but "needed to understand why" as she shone a light on the devastating rise of eating disorders in young people in her new BBC Three film Disordered Eating.
Promising to make some changes, Zara, who has 1.7 million followers on Instagram and 230,000 on her A Day With Zara food account, said: "I think my page has gone on a bit of a journey itself. Gone are the days I feel like I want to post lots of aesthetic of my body and myself. “I’m happy to compromise and lose out on the likes and comments and engagements because it’s actually about who I am as a person. I would rather not post anything than post a bit of content that gets 100,000 likes but could affect someone negatively and their eating disorder. It’s about balance.Zara also admitted that it was “hard to hear” her own social media decisions “may have impacted someone at some point”.
