Yet another sports car driver reported after loudly 'revving' engine along Deansgate
Yet another driver was reported by police after they were caught 'revving' the engine to their sports car along Deansgate. Officers spotted the black Audi R8 'messing about' and driving 'antisocially' in Manchester.
It comes just weeks after local city councillors condemned 'man boy racers' who regularly cause noise chaos along Deansgate and adjoining Peter Street on weekends.City centre spokesperson councillor Pat Karney previously called on specialist noise detecting traffic cameras to be introduced in Manchester to tackle the problem and catch motorists - as the trials were rolled out elsewhere, such as in Bristol, Birmingham and Bradford.
Coun Karney said: "For people who live in the area, they are plagued by supercars racing up and down Deansgate, Peter Street and Quay Street. They go around at 2 or 3 in the morning, particularly on weekends. "It causes crippling loudness. The noise that comes from the exhausts is just unbelievable and it is day and night. They find a good stretch of road and just use it as a racetrack."
