The activists also blocked Trafalgar Square with a marching band
Extinction Rebellion climate activists with signs on their backs attend a protest at Trafalgar Square It comes after an ‘opening ceremony’ was held at the Guildhall yesterday, where three protesters climbed the building, sprayed red paint over the walls and unfurled a banner reading ‘co-liberation freedom together’.
Demonstrations are scheduled in central locations including St James’ Park, Piccadilly Circus – similar to those carried out in 2019 – but more are due to take place in both north and south London. In a tweet today, they said: ‘A group of protesters have blocked the roads around Long Acre junction in #Westminster with a structure. Officers are on scene and specialist teams are being deployed. Road closures are in place.’
