Wrexham talisman Paul Mullin broke four ribs and punctured a lung during the pre-season friendly with Manchester United in San Diego
Wrexham star Paul Mullin revealed his lips turned blue on the pitch after a horror collision with Manchester United goalkeeper Nathan Bishop during the pre-season tour fixture in San Diego.
After missing the start of Wrexham's return to the Football League, Mullin returned for a half hour cameo against Doncaster Rovers and has since scored four goals in nine appearances. However, the incident with United's now former shot stopper remains fresh in the 28-year-old's mind and he reflected on the events on Chris Kamara and Ben Shepherd's Proper Football Podcast this week.
"Ten minutes in, the ball goes behind Jonny Evans and I run after it. The goalkeeper comes out, makes a bit of a hash of it, and cleans me out instead of the ball. "But, the medical professionals we've got and the ones we have got on hand in the stadium made sure I was alright, well I say alright I had four broken ribs and a punctured lung."
