Nottingham City Council says there is still "much work to be done" on improving its children's services after Ofsted inspectors found progress at the authority. An inspection report published last September said several improvements were needed in the children's services being offered in Nottingham, particularly around the safeguarding of children.
A report published on August 30 has now summarised the findings from the second monitoring visit, which took place in July. Ofsted says there are "early signs of tangible improvements", with positives including investment in additional agency workers.But the agency says this arrangement is "temporary", also noting that the lack of permanent staff is leading to problems in care.
But Ofsted also adds: "Senior leaders know this and have an ambitious workforce offer and delivery plan that is leading to some stability in staffing." Other positives noted include children building strong relationships with their social workers, supervision taking place regularly and staff feeling supported.
