Worcester City Council plans to spend £521,000 on installing solar panels on the roof of St Martin's Gate car park, which could save up to £58,000 annually. The move is expected to increase energy production by nearly 450%. The council believes the loss of income from the car park will be minimal as it is usually only full during the Christmas period. The council has also allocated funds for solar panels at Perdiswell Leisure Centre and is applying for swimming pool funding from Sport England.
