“During the pandemic, the presentation of women coming for abortion services changed quite a bit,” she says. Demand changed as casual sex was all but outlawed, and BPAS “saw an increase in the number of women who were already in established relationships” asking for care. As lockdown restrictions were eased earlier this year, clinics have struggled to readjust to unpredictable demand leading to ‘bottle necks’ and waiting lists for women in the UK and those coming from abroad.
