Emergency services are still searching for a 59-year-old woman who went missing in the River Kelvin 24 hours ago.
Police, fire crews and paramedics rushed to the scene near to Eldon Street at around 5.45pm last night, October 11, after they received reports of concern for two people in the water. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service rescued a man who was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, his condition is unknown.
We have previously reported that helicopters and drones were used during the overnight search and rescue operation.READ MORE: Glasgow police discover drugs worth £135k and 'stolen' quad bikes in shipping containerA Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 5.45pm on Wednesday, 11 October, 2023, we received a report of concern for two people in the water at the River Kelvin, near to Eldon Street, Glasgow.
"A man was rescued by Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. A Scottish Fire and Rescue service spokesperson added: “We were alerted at around 5.42pm on Wednesday, October 11, to an incident at the River Kelvin near to Eldon Street, Glasgow.“Operations Control mobilised four fire appliances and specialist resources to the area, where we assisted emergency service partners.
