Police, fire and ambulance attended the incident
This morning at around 9.40am police were called to reports of a concern for safety of a woman in the water at Liverpool's Pier Head. The police, fire and ambulance services attended the scene, with the fire service recovering the woman from the water.
The woman - in her 50s - was then taken to hospital via ambulance where she will undergo an assessment of her injuries. A police officer at the scene told the ECHO she was conscious and in a stable condition, and has been taken to hospital due to the risk of secondary drowning.A spokesperson from Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm that officers were called to the Pier Head, in Liverpool, at around 9.
"Emergency services attended and a woman aged in her 50s was rescued from the water. She has now been taken to hospital for assessment of injuries."
