A section of the motorway near Wigan was shut for 12 hours following the fatal collision on Sunday
Emergency services attended the fatal crash on the northbound carriageway between J26 M58 to J27 at around 9.15am on Sunday.
The motorway was shut shortly after 9.15am and remained closed throughout the day until around 9pm. Diversions were put in place as drivers became stuck within the closure for a number of hours.
