Child's father has “experienced significant trauma ... that is likely to remain with him'
A Co Antrim woman awaiting sentence for murdering her young son refuses to speak about what she did and has displayed no remorse, a court heard on Friday.
Despite acknowledging that she stabbed both her young sons, the 42-year old denied the charges or murder and attempted on the grounds of diminished responsibility due to her mental state at the time. Mr MacCreanor spoke of the planning that went into killing one son and attempting to kill another and the multiple stab wounds inflicted upon both children.
Mr MacCreanor also raised the issue of her behaviour in the aftermath of the murder when she was housed for a period in the Shannon Secure Unit. Mr Mallon spoke of “certain taboo factors” surrounding the “unnatural act” of a mother attacking those who she is expected love and care for.
