At least two Shropshire attractions are closing their doors early in anticipation of the arrival of Storm Agnes.
The Dingle in Shrewsbury's Quarry and Attingham Park are shutting up shop ahead of the forecast high winds.
The first named storm of the autumn and winter season is expected to bring strong winds and heavy rain to the UK on Wednesday.High winds of 50 to 60mph are expected to affect north-west Wales, Lancashire, Cumbria, Northern Ireland and south-west Scotland. Closer to home, current predictions suggest thundery showers and winds of up to 44mph from around 2pm.Injuries and danger to life from flying debris are possible.Some power cuts are likely to occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage.
Road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected, with longer journey times and cancellations possible. Some roads and bridges are likely to close. There is a small chance of injuries and danger to life that could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties, with a chance of some minor flooding of coastal roads. spokesperson from National Trust property Attingham Park has said they will close at 4pm due to the forecast of strong winds, they expect to open as usual on Thursday.
