The two clubs battle it out on Saturday.
If they weren't drinking in Last Chance Saloon already, Hull FC and Leeds Rhinos most certainly are on Saturday. Defeats to Warrington Wolves and Huddersfield Giants respectively over the weekend have left their hopes hanging by a thread and, barring a very slim sequence of results, both will need to win their final four games to make the play-offs.
However, only one of those teams will be able to achieve that given they play one another on Saturday. This weekend, one team's season will be over for good. To some extent, it isn't much of a surprise to see either side outside the play-offs. It very much felt like a transitional year for both clubs. Tony Smith is overseeing a long-term project at the MKM Stadium and Leeds Rhinos' salary cap issues resulted in a recruitment drive that looked to be with the years ahead in mind.
