The deli has transformed an derelict building that has stood empty for a decade
Lancaster's No.5 The Stonewell has sat empty and sad for as long as many locals can remember. The building, in a prime spot on the one-way system in the city centre is an eyesore no more.
"It's in such a prominent position in Lancaster. People saw it was being used again and there was a real buzz and excitement, especially when the sign writer Steve Khan was there. The deli specialises in locally-sourced produce, independent traders and craft wines. Customers can enjoy a glass of wine and a sharing board in-house or takeaway.
Alan, who opened the Quartehouse with James in 2019, said: "We want to reverse the trend and get people shopping for good quality good sin the city centre. Greengrocers close at 5pm and we wanted to offer that retail aspect of a convenience store.
