More thundery showers could be on the way
A major family event in Ashfield is still set to go ahead as planned this weekend despite forecasters predicting widespread rain throughout the day. Ashfield Day is being held from 10.30am until 10pm on Sutton Lawn this Saturday , with attractions ranging from musical tribute acts and fairground rides to cinema screenings and animal competitions.
In its full forecast for the East Midlands on Saturday, the Met Office says: "Widespread rain throughout the day, heavy and possibly thundery at times. Rain becoming lighter and patchier into the evening, clearing eastern coasts during the night."But Ashfield District Council's Leader, Councillor Jason Zadrozny, said: "This is the biggest party thrown in Ashfield by the council for decades. We're not going to let a drop of rain put us off.
