We all know that we need sleep, but why do we actually need it?

The Sleep and Circadian Neuroscience Institute at Oxford University says: “The importance of sleep is often underappreciated. Sleep is a fundamental biological process of vital importance for health, and insufficient or disrupted sleep have been linked to a broad range of neurological and metabolic disorders.
