Some 2022 draft picks hit the ground running. Others needed more time. Who's on the list as a possible breakout performer for Year 2?
, a first-rounder who had a great close to 2022, is another player to watch this season. But I couldn’t leave out Hinish.
An undrafted rookie from Notre Dame, Hinish — who is just about maxed out at 300 pounds — plays with terrific effort. He is a very agile, quick athlete who can move up and down the line. Hinish scraped together nine pressures as a rookie last season, and on a Houston team still in search of its identity, Hinish’s story feels like a pretty good one. Look for bigger things this year.
Dean was eased into things last season and really only had two games as a true rotational LB — he played just 34 defensive snaps during the regular season. He performed well in that very small sample size, though. Philadelphia seems to be on its way to giving him a shot as its starter inside this season, too, although he was slowed by an ankle injury earlier this month. Still, when Dean is healthy, his speed is different.
