What TheBoys season 3 ending – and *that* cliffhanger – could mean for season 4

Upon their escape, the big plan is finally set in motion. Kimiko and Frenchie are going to ransack the lab to develop a powerful neuro-toxin while the rest take on Homelander.Soldier Boy faces off against his son, only for Homelander to bring out Ryan,"It's a shame that I've missed so much. I wish I could have raised you and taught you father to son... Maybe if I'd raised you, I could have made you better, and not some weak snivelling pussy starved for attention.
No one's faces are off-limits, in fact, because Homelander then squeezes his thumb into Maeve's eye socket, blinding her permanently in one eye. Eventually, Butcher breaks down Soldier Boy's defences by smashing his shield apart, and then Starlight knocks him back long enough for everyone to use Frenchie's gas on him.First though, Soldier Boy loses his shit and threatens to blow up everyone, including himself.
In the aftermath of that deadly, homophobic explosion, Ryan leaves with Homelander, choosing the psychopath over Butcher, a psychopath who we actually root for. We then cut to some tribute videos that celebrate the lost Maeve, except, surprise! She's actually alive, after all. No gays were buried in the making of this finale then, it seems, although she has lost her powers. And it does look like she's leaving the show for good.
