'We are doomed': What Mancs are saying about Rishi Sunak becoming the new Prime Minister
There have been renewed calls for a general election after it was announced Rishi Sunak will become the country's next Prime Minister.
When he is formally appointed as Liz Truss' replacement as PM, Mr Sunak will become the country's second new premier since the resignation of Boris Johnson who was leader at the last general election in 2019.And a number of Manchester Evening News readers said the public should now be allowed to again have their say at the polls as they expressed despair and frustration at the current situation in Westminster.
Maureen Partington said: "We didn’t vote him in should be a general election for everyone." Danielle Turver said: "Now's time for them to call a general election. The public deserve a say in who is in office." Matthew Porteus said: "He is a decent guy, but definitely not the answer we need... We need a General Election now!"
